Howard S. Jacobs, M.D., FAAP, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, University of Maryland School of Medicine, Co-Director of the University of Maryland Pediatric Headache Clinic
Dr. Jacobs, a pediatrician with 30 years of practice experience, is a headache specialist caring for pediatric and young adult patients in the mid-Atlantic area. He is a member of the American Headache Society and Pediatric Liaison to the American Headache Society Committee on Headache Education (ACHE).
Dr. Jacobs has particular interest in adjunctive and alternative therapies for headache and migraine co-morbidities.
Eric M Pearlman, MD, PhD, Savannah Neurology Specialists, Savannah, Georgia
Dr. Eric Pearlman is a graduate of University of Rochester School of Medicine in Rochester, New York where he also received a Ph.D. in Neurobiology and Anatomy. He performed his Pediatric Residency training at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and his Neurology Residency at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. In addition Dr. Pearlman performed a Pediatric Neurology Fellowship at Johns Hopkins.
In 1998 Dr. Pearlman began his practice of Neurology in Savannah. He is board certified in Neurology with a special competency in Child Neurology as well as being board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. He has authored numerous publications on subjects such as Migraine Management in Children and Adolescents, Preventive Treatment for Child and Adolescent Headaches, Bacterial Meningitis Beyond the Newborn Period and others. He has also presented lectures in several states as well as London, England. Dr. Pearlman is actively involved in several research projects. He specializes in the treatment of Pediatric and Adolescent patients

Objectives:

- Participant will be able to describe the progression to Chronic Headache and the various treatment options

- Participant will recognize the common precursors to Migraine, and recognize the less frequent Migraine variants
- Participant will be able to discuss the effect of environment of the patients headache and explain modalities to deal with environmental stressors
- Participant will be able to explain the various nutraceuticals, behavioral interventions and alternative modalities and assess their usefulness in practice
- Participant will be able to discuss the differential diagnosis and treatments of their own problem headache patients
