Daniel L. Orr II, DDS PhD JD MD FCLM
After graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from BYU, followed by a D.D.S. with honors from the USC School of Dentistry, Dr. Orr completed an Anesthesiology residency at the University of Utah School of Medicine where he also earned a Master of Science in Anesthesiology.
Next, an Los Angeles County/USC/Medical Center Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency lead to research leading to a Ph.D. in Biophysics from Columbia Pacific University. Dr. Orr has also been awarded a Juris Doctrate from William Howard Taft University's Witkin School of Law and an academic M.D. from the University of Health Sciences Antigua School of Medicine. (Dr. Orr is not licensed to practice medicine or law in Nevada).
Dr Orr is:
- A Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology; the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology; and the American Board of Legal Medicine.
- Professor and Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Advanced Pain Control at the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine.
- A Clinical Professor of Surgery and Anesthesiology for Dentistry at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, UNLV School of Dental Medicine, and USC School of Dentistry.
- A Forensic Odontologist for the Clark County Coroner's Office; the Post-Mortem Coordinator for Nevada's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); and Chief Dental Officer for Nevada's Department of Homeland Security National Disaster Medical System.
- A past President of the Nevada State Society of OMS and the current Nevada Delegate to the American Association of OMS.
- A court qualified expert in OMS and Dental Anesthesia legal issues.
- An author who has published extensively in the professional literature, including textbooks, and a speaker who lectures regularly in Nevada, nationally, and internationally.
- A member of the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners Anesthesia Committee and the Chairman of the Nevada State Society of OMS Anesthesia Committee.
- A provider for UNLV Athletics, the Pacific Coast League Las Vegas 51's (L.A. Dodgers AAA affiliate), and the PRCA National Finals Rodeo sports medicine teams.
- A Past President of the D.A.R.E. Board in Las Vegas and Founder of the Boulder Dam Area Council Freedom Through Courage drug awareness program.
- A Senior Member of the National Ski Patrol.
- Chief of OMS at University Medical Center and has coordinated care for all OMS trauma at its Level I Trauma Center since 1984. Is or has been Chief of OMS at Valley Hospital Medical Center, Sunrise Hospital, Desert Springs Hospital, Boulder City Hospital, and Community Hospital.
