Roy S. Rogers, III, M.D.,
Dr. Roy S. Rogers, III is a Professor of Dermatology, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. He has practiced dermatology and oral dermatology at Mayo Clinic since 1973. During his time at Mayo Clinic, he has served as student and then academic dean of the Mayo Medical School (1982-1989). He then became Dean, Mayo School of Health-Related Sciences for ten years. He has been recognized as a Distinguished Educator by Mayo Clinic Rochester in 2004.

In 1999, Dr. Rogers gave the first Ahmed Lecture at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. In 2000, Dr. Rogers was the keynote speaker at the first joint meeting of the British Society of Oral Medicine and the British Society of Oral Pathology. In addition, he gave the keynote address at the International Association of Oral Pathology later that year. Dr. Rogers has presented numerous other named lectureships and served as Visiting Professor at many academic instructions in the United States, Canada and around the world. In 2010 he was accorded Honorary Membership in the British Society of Oral Medicine and was recognized as a Lifetime Career Educator by the Dermatology Foundation.

Dr. Rogers has had a long-standing interest in oral medicine, oral pathology and oral dermatology. He has been recognized as an authority in that area having edited three volumes of the Dermatology Clinics and co-authored three books as well as numerous Scholarly publications. He has received two Presidential Citations and the Gold Triangle Award from the American Academy of Dermatology as well as the Thomas G. Pearson Memorial Education Achievement Award. In July, 2005, he gave the Everett C. Fox, M.D. Memorial Lecture at the summer meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Rogers was made an Honorary Member of the AAD in 2007. In addition, Dr. Rogers was recognized by the International League of Dermatological Societies for his dedication to international dermatological education with the recognition of having taught in 55 countries over the years.

Dr. Rogers completed his medical education at the Ohio State University College of Medicine and his Internship and Residency at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York. He was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Chief Resident, Dermatology Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Rogers completed an N.I.H. Fellowship in Dermatology at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, University of Minnesota where he earned his M.S. in Dermatology.

Sat Oct 20	Papeete, Tahiti - Begin your journey to a paradise in the capital of Tahiti, the largest and most populated of the French Polynesian islands. Here you'll embark Paul Gauguin . This luxurious yet casual, ultra-deluxe vessel will be your home for the next week. With an endless choice of things to do, from relaxing poolside with a book to playing the slots in the casino, you will never be bored. Embarkation is at 3:00pm; ship sails at 10:00pm
Sun Oct 21	Raiatea - You will have the day to explore the island that was once the cultural, religious, royal and political heart of Polynesia, and, according to legend, and lore, as well as Tahiti's most significant archeological sites. Ancient Polynesians built maraes, or temples, of stone in many sizes. The maraes provided a physical space for the spirit of the gods to occupy during ritual ceremonies, as did the carved wooden tikis for which the region is famous. Be sure to visit Taputapuatea, a national monument and the most important marae in the Society Islands. We will bid adieu to Raiatea just before dinner and set sail with the compass set for Motu Mahana.
Mon Oct 22	Taha’a (Motu Mahana) - Motu Mahana, an islet adjacent to Taha'a, is our very own South Seas paradise featuring white sand beaches with swaying palms, crystal-clear waters and gentle breezes. As an exclusive Paul Gauguin event, guests will spend a full day exploring this idyllic, isolated island, and relaxing with a delicious barbecue lunch and Polynesian entertainment featuring strolling musicians and singers.
Tue Oct 23	Bora Bora - Immediately recognizable by the basalt tombstone of Mount Otemanu rising from the ocean, this half-atoll, half-mountain is surrounded by a spectacular lagoon and a series of smaller islands. Ancient Polynesians called it Parapora, or “firstborn,” because they thought it was the first island created after Raiatea.

Thu Oct 25	Moorea - Covered in an abundance of fresh fruits and flowers, spectacular mountain peaks, peaceful multi-hued lagoons and palm-fringed beaches – Moorea's awesome beauty is unsurpassed. During your visit, you might wish to shop for local crafts, embark on a dolphin-watching expedition with a marine biologist and witness these fascinating animals in their amazing natural habitat, or try out some of the local pineapples – said to be the most delicious in all of French Polynesia. An overnight here affords us two full days on Bora Bora's gorgeous sister island.
Fri Oct 26	Moorea/Papeete - Explore more of this peaceful oasis. Perhaps you will choose to trek on the “Trails of the Ancients” or snorkel one of the world's most beautiful lagoons. At the end of the afternoon, we cruise to our home port in Papeete, docking for the night.
Sat Oct 27	Papeete - Cap off your epic journey where it all began. You won't be the same as when you first set sail – these exotic isles are said to touch people in magical ways. If you want to explore more of this side of paradise, perhaps you will choose our pre- and post-cruise hotel programs in Huahine, Bora Bora, Moorea, Taha'a and Papeete. Disembark by 1:00pm
